Hey clown, the Thunderbird was not mythical! My buddy has a '57 two-seater,
fire-engine red with a 289 v-8 and a 4-speed floor mount.

Dinosaurs weren't "mythical" either. If you don't intend to contribute anything
worthwhile, please go back
alt.the.bible.is.the.only.book.my.daddy.will.let.me.read. and leave us alone.
Oh, by the way, Archbishop Ussher got it wrong, the world did NOT start on 4
October 6004 BC, okay, it came into being BILLIONS of years ago.
Please quit trying to interpret the Bible to your standards.

I never said that the Dinosaurs were Mythical.
Okay, I'll take that as the beginning of a conversation.
What do ~you~ think the Thunderbird were?
The earliest legends written in 1698 from the time of Father Hennipin,
indicated that the Illinois Indians knew of these creatures (called by them
Piasa) and experienced them first-hand in time past.
The Illinois Indians tell him of monsters, called Piasa, which would
periodically attack their tribe and carry off hapless people. The two
petroglyphs are visible until about 1856, when the State Prison at Alton begins
quarrying the limestone which holds the carvings.
In 1840, in Jersey County, Illinois, Professor John Russell explored caves
in which innumerable human bones littered the floor. Professor Russell stated
that the bones offered mute testimony to the truth of the AmerIndians' story of
the Piasa, and it's craving for human flesh.

Yeahbut. The big carnivorous birds were found in South America and not (to the
best of my limited knowledge) in North America. Also, they went extinct several
millions of years ago when the South American continent joined with North
America and competitors were able to move in and supplant them. Added to the
fact that they were flightless, and the petroglyphs supposedly showed something
with large wings.
The George Forts (collector of strange and usually unanswerable data) out there
would like to think that maybe some kind of Pteranodon might have survived, but
to me that is just as unlikely.
Of course, there are the legends of dragons in China, indeed worldwide......
